Imran Mirza, MD, MS, FRCPC, FCAP

Dr. Imran Mirza joined Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), Abu Dhabi, in the summer of 2010 as Pathology Consultant. Born and raised in Kuwait, he obtained his Medical Degree from University of The Punjab, Pakistan, and his Masters Degree in Microbiology from The George Washington University, USA. He did his residency training in Pathology at the Yale University Medical School affiliated program and his fellowship training in Hematopathology at Cleveland Clinic, USA.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada; College of American Pathologists; and American Society for Clinical Pathology. Prior to joining SKMC, he was a Consultant Hematopathologist and Associate Professor for over 9 years at the University of Alberta Hospitals, Canada. Dr. Mirza was also directing the Molecular Pathology Laboratory at the University of Alberta Hospitals since 2006, a role which he continues as the Section Head of the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at SKMC. His major area of clinical and research interest is leukemia.

Although he has a number of abstracts and research papers published to date, Dr. Mirza considers his contributions to the education of countless medical students, undergraduate students, residents and fellows as his finest achievement. He was instrumental in drafting the Molecular Pathology fellowship training guidelines of the Association of Molecular Pathology. More recently, he has also been elected as the Chairman of the Department of Pathology & Lab Medicine of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
