Nabil Abouchala, MD, FACP, FCCP

Dr Abouchala is a Consultant Intensivist/Pulmonologist and held the title of Medical Director of the medical and surgical ICU, and Program Director of the critical care fellowship in the Department of Medicine, King Faisal hospital and Research Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dr Abouchala graduated from Aleppo Medical School, Syria in 1983, and received his training in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee Memphis followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine. In 1990 he was appointed Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Tennessee and also worked as a Consultant and Staff physician at the VA Medical Center, Memphis in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. In 1994 Dr Abouchala joined the Department of Adult Critical Care Medicine, King Faisal hospital in Riyadh as a consultant in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Between April 2006 and August 2007, Dr Abouchala was the section head of Critical Care Medicine at the Department of Medicine in the King Faisal hospital. Dr Abouchala has authored many book chapters, meeting abstracts and publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians and a Member of the American Thoracic Society and the American Association for Respiratory Care.
